Community Support Programmes

Pathways Ireland is a community focused, family support service offering care to young children in Ireland. Pathways offers support in the form of:

• Outreach - Offering support through planned visits to a young person as decided upon by the Social Work Departments and the HSE. The service aims to intervene with the young person in such a way that their place within their family of origin can be sustained and they can avoid the unpleasant scenario of moving in to residential child care. The outreach team will work towards clearly identified goals that are in the child's best interests with a key focus on activities that help develop the child's emotional, psychological and social abilities.

• Family Support - Much like the outreach support service, family support will focus not only on the child, but on the family as a whole. Positive modelling will be used to try and influence the interactions between all family members. Recommendations to alternative support services such as parent mentoring, counselling and other support services will be made based on collaborative consultation with the families and professionals linked in with them.

• Respite - Similar to the aims of the residential service, the respite service offers a chance for young people to come for an activity based stay at our facility in Newbridge. A team of qualified staff members develops a care plan for the duration of this visit with clearly defined goals and desired outcomes named and strived for by the team.
